William Matthews Studio

William Matthews paints the working West in watercolor - ranch hands, weather, horses, the parts of it that involve a job rather than a sunset - and has been doing it for more than fifty years. This is his own studio on Walnut, open to the public two days a week and by appointment the rest of the time, which means you are visiting a workspace, not a dealer's showroom. His work has been enlarged into a public mosaic at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. Two afternoons a week is a narrow window; it is worth planning around.

Why go. A working painter's studio you can walk into, which almost never happens.

Tuesday and Thursday, ten to five, are the only walk-in hours - everything else needs a phone call first.
