Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom

The building at 26th and Welton was the Casino Cabaret in the 1940s and 50s, when Five Points was Denver's jazz street and Duke Ellington and Count Basie came through. Since 2003 it has been Cervantes': a 900-cap ballroom and the smaller Other Side next door, booking funk, jam, hip-hop, bluegrass and electronic acts, with late shows that end when Denver's bars have long shut. It is a mile from Union Station on the D Line, just outside our frame, but it is where a lot of LoDo nights end.

Why go. Late, loud, and one of the few rooms downtown with a real dance floor and history.

Take the D Line to 27th & Welton; the lot fills and the walk back down to LoDo at 1am is not the fun part.
