Ground-floor contemporary gallery that shows real work, not hotel-lobby art
A serious commercial gallery on the ground floor of a Wazee Street brick pile, running four-to-six-week shows of contemporary painting, sculpture, and works on paper. The program mixes artists early in their careers with names that travel, and the gallery takes a booth at the Dallas Art Fair, which tells you the ambition level. It is free, it is quiet, and it is small enough to see properly in fifteen minutes. Open Wednesday through Saturday afternoons only, so a lunchtime walk from Union Station works better than an evening plan.
Why go. It is the one LoDo gallery whose program would hold up in Chelsea or Culver City.
Only four days a week and afternoons at that; check the current show's closing date before you walk over.
