Blue Sushi Sake Grill
Loud, cheerful sushi and sake bombs at the foot of 16th Street.
The Omaha-based Blue Sushi opened this corner spot at 16th and Wazee in July 2012 and it has been a reliable, high-volume sushi room ever since. The rolls run maki-heavy and sweet-sauced rather than purist, which is the point: it is a place for a group, a birthday, or a happy hour that stretches. The happy hour is the real draw, weekdays 11am to 6:30pm and all day Sunday, with rolls and saketinis marked down. There is a dog-friendly patio on 16th and valet on weekend nights at 16th and Wazee. Vegan Tuesdays are a thing.
Why go. A dependable group sushi dinner or a long, cheap happy hour a block from Union Station.
Sunday is all-day happy hour; on weekdays get there before 5:30 or you will wait for the discounted rolls.
