Mario’s Speakeasy Pizza

New York slices until 3am on the Market Street bar strip.

Mario's is the slice window the Market Street bars need: it opens at 4pm and stays open until 2:30 or 3 in the morning, closed only on Mondays. Owner Mitchell Santee trained in a Florida pizzeria and spent three months in Italy before opening it, and the pizza is straightforward New York style, big foldable slices and whole pies, with a Coors Light-and-shot special on the board. There is not much of a speakeasy about it beyond the name; it is a small counter a few doors from Rhein Haus and the Celtic, which is exactly where you want it at 1am.

Why go. The last-call slice on the block that Ball Arena and the Market Street bars empty into.

It does not open until 4pm, so this is a dinner-onward and after-bars place, not a lunch stop.
