My Brother's Bar
Denver's oldest bar, still griddling the jalapeno cream cheese burger
There has been a bar in this building at 15th and Platte since the 1870s, which makes this the oldest continuously serving drinking room in Denver. Neal Cassady drank here when it was called Paul's Place, and the Karagas brothers renamed it in 1970 after a line they used on vendors: don't look at me, it's my brother's bar. A longtime employee and her family bought it from Jim Karagas in 2017 and changed almost nothing. Order at the bar, get the JCB, sit outside under the trees when it's warm.
Why go. It is the one room on this walk that has not been renovated into somebody's concept.
Parking at 15th and Platte is miserable; park up the hill in LoHi and walk down, or come before six.
