Babe's Tea Room
Full afternoon tea in the Platte Fifteen building, ninety loose-leaf blends
Allison and her staff took over the House of Commons tea shop in this timber building and turned it into a proper sit-down tea room: finger sandwiches, scones with the traditional accompaniments, house pastries, and unlimited pours from more than ninety loose-leaf teas. Tables are held for an hour and a half. A Mahjong tea, four seats and a full game set, runs Monday through Thursday. There is a second location in Golden. Book ahead, because walk-in space depends entirely on who did.
Why go. The one genuine afternoon tea within walking distance of Union Station.
Park in the Parkwell lot behind the building and ask staff for the code; the first ninety minutes are validated.
