Understudy
Free 700-square-foot art incubator tucked under the Convention Center on 14th.
The Denver Theatre District took a windowless retail bay under the Colorado Convention Center and turned it into a rotating experimental art space, free to walk into. One installation at a time, usually six to eight weeks, usually a Colorado artist doing something a commercial gallery would not hang. Agnes Ma's 'it all ends the same' runs through August 30, 2026. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, noon to six. It takes ten minutes to see, which is the point: it is a stop on a walk between the Convention Center and the theaters, not a destination in itself.
Why go. Ten free minutes of real contemporary art in the middle of a convention block.
It has almost no street presence; look for the door tucked below the Convention Center on the 14th Street side, address 890 C.
