Herb's Hideout
No-cover live jazz, funk and blues nightly in a 1933-vintage bar.
Herb's is the musician-owned bar at 21st and Larimer that has been pouring in one form or another since 1933 and still puts a band on the small stage most nights of the week: jazz, funk, reggae, blues, R&B, occasionally a DJ. There is no cover, the drinks are strong and cheap, and the room is a real bar with a low ceiling and a lot of red. With El Chapultepec gone, this is the closest thing downtown has to an old-school jazz joint.
Why go. Free live music seven nights a week, a short walk from the ballpark.
Sets usually start after 8; if you want a table, be there by 7:30 on Fridays and Saturdays.
