Fried tacos and green chile from a family who have been here sixty years
Willie and Esther Garcia opened this on Larimer in the 1960s and the family has run it ever since, through every version of the neighborhood that has come and gone around them. The order is fried tacos and green chile, which is what the place is known for, and the menu has not been redesigned to suit anyone's idea of what Larimer Street should be now. Hours are short: 11am to 7pm midweek, 8pm Friday and Saturday, 9am to 3pm Sunday, closed Monday.
Why go. Sixty-odd years of the same green chile, on a block that has changed completely around it.
It shuts at 7pm most nights and all day Monday. This is a lunch place, not a post-game one.
