Fifth-floor Mediterranean small plates with the best view in LoHi
Five floors above Umatilla Street, El Five opened in 2017 with a Spanish, North African and Middle Eastern small-plates menu and a wall of glass pointed at the downtown skyline. The tapas are built to share and the gin and tonic list is taken seriously. The part people get wrong is the entrance, which is tucked inside a covered passage at the base of the building - you take an elevator up. Book for sunset, which is when the room earns its reputation. Same owners as Linger, a few blocks downhill.
Why go. Sunset over downtown from an open-air terrace, with something decent in your hand.
