Jovanina's Broken Italian
Colorado-lens Italian on Blake with a candlelit wine cellar downstairs.
Jake and Jennifer Linzinmeir opened Jovanina's in November 2018 in the old Aoba Sushi space next to the former Blake Street Vault, after years running mountain-town restaurants. The menu is Italian by way of Colorado, meaning elk bolognese and vegetable-heavy shared plates, and the room is three stories of brick, with Sotto Voce, a subterranean wine lounge, in the basement pouring digestivi and running an absinthe tower. It is dinner-only, five nights a week, and one of the more grown-up rooms in this stretch of LoDo.
Why go. A quiet Italian dinner and a basement glass of amaro two blocks from the Coors Field noise.
Ask for Sotto Voce downstairs for a drink before or after; it is the room the regulars know about and the one to book for a date.
