Eighteen seats around a counter, one ticketed menu, one Michelin star
Eighteen seats, all of them at a counter facing the kitchen, and one menu that changes with the season. Beckon opened in November 2018 next door to its sibling Call, and in 2023 it became one of the first five Colorado restaurants to take a Michelin star. Duncan Holmes runs the kitchen; the cooking leans Scandinavian in technique, which in practice means a lot of fermentation, cure, and restraint. Dinner is a prepaid ticket bought in advance rather than a reservation, so the evening is set before you arrive and the pacing is the same for everyone at the counter.
Why go. It is the closest thing in Denver to watching a whole meal get made in front of you, one star and eighteen seats.
